Biography

Haifeng WANG is the Chief Technology Officer of Baidu Inc. He is in charge of Baidu’s Artificial Intelligence Group (AIG), overseeing the development and research efforts in artificial intelligence technologies including natural language processing, speech technology, knowledge graph, deep learning, computer vision, robotics and augmented reality, and efforts in computing infrastructure, AI chips and other technologies, as well as Baidu AI Cloud, Baidu Maps, etc.

From 2014 to 2017, Dr. Wang oversaw Baidu’s core search products. From 2002 to 2010, Dr. Wang served as the chief research scientist at Toshiba’s R&D Center. He served as the president of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) in 2013 and became the founding chair of Asia-Pacific Chapter of the ACL in 2018. Dr. Wang is currently an ACL fellow, IEEE Fellow, CAAI Fellow, Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Science, and he is the president of the National Engineering Laboratory for Deep Learning Technology and Applications and the vice president of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, the Chinese Information Processing Society of China, etc.

Dr. Wang is an adjunct professor at the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), where he obtained his bachelor, master and Ph.D. degrees in computer science. He published more than 100 academic papers focusing on the research and development of artificial intelligence technologies. He is an adjunct professor at several other top universities in China as well.

Dr. Wang was awarded the National Technological Invention Award, National Science and Technology Progress Award, China Patent Golden Award, Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award, National Scientific Innovation and Advancement Award, and the Outstanding Contribution Award of Wu Wen Jun AI Science and Technology Award.
